Stevie Wonder Will Not Back Down As Other Artists Follow His Lead

Okay so if you didn't already read it here (Stevie Wonder Boycotts Florida in response to the Zimmerman Not Guilty Verdict) you've probably heard it somewhere else by now that Stevie Wonder was the first to stand up and openly state that he would no longer perform in Florida until they get rid of the 'stand your ground' law. When I wrote my piece I said it would be wonderful if the rest of the celebrity performing community would follow suit. Well guess what! Since Stevie made his announcement, O'Jays lead singer Eddie Lavert said on his Twitter account:
“I, Eddie Levert will not play Florida until they change their gun laws, I’m going to join Mr. Stevie Wonder in his boycott of Florida."

Tina and Erica Campbell of the Gospel duo Mary Mary have also joined the cause making their announcement on Twitter as well :
“We will stand with Stevie Wonder and boycott Florida until the Stand Your Ground law is changed,We love our fans but we must do something.”

Stephaine Mills has also joined the ranks stating:
“As a parent of a young black male child, it’s a travesty that my child can’t walk the streets now with a hoodie on and not be racially profiled,I stand with Stevie Wonder, and I will not be performing in the state of Florida until the Stand Your Ground law is changed.”
It does my heart GOOD to see this happening. It's time again that the celebrity community band together and stand for a cause that will bring change. As it is now there are several states that carry the stand your ground law. According to the National Conference of State Legislators, Florida is among 22 states in which there is “no duty to retreat from an attacker in any place in which one is lawfully present."

Those states include: Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, North and South Carolina, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas. At least nine of those states include language stating one may ‘stand his or her ground and this is again, according to the National Conference of State Legislators.

Let's hope that more people publicly announce that they will be joining this boycott. Of course you know I will be keeping you posted on the progression. If you want to cut someone deep without any physical contact, hit them in their pockets. That's worse than a choke hold by a sumo wrestler on steroids. We gotta get this done, and this is something that even YOU can do!

Here's a list of Florida based corporations all over the united states. List of Fla. Companies.

Stand YOUR ground, boycott Florida!!
